Default quieter exhaust

i have dumps before the axle on my 05 silverado and i am wanting to quiten it down. driving around twon isnt that bad but anything over 45 is way to loud and interstat is getting on my nerves.

i dont know what kind of muffler it is as i got it for free off another truck when i worked at a dealership several years ago. and it has no markings on it. it sounds great but its just to loud inside the cab.

so what are the suggestions i want to keep the tiples look but not suffer from it so what can i do???

what kind of muffler do you have now? or do you just have dumped straight pipes? a longer muffler is quieter, whatever brand you go with. you could also throw a small muffler in front of your current one. that would quiet it down. something like a bullet or small magnaflow.

I just added a IMCO Extreme after my SLP resonator and dumped it a little farther back. The drone is almost gone on the hwy now... and it still sounds great.

I just welded up a 5" Magnaflow resonator before my Muffler and the sound is incredible. Nice and quite, no drone, but still throaty and beefy when i open it up. I still have to hear what i sound like towing though

xsports33 did that get rid of the hwy driving cab noise??

i may consider that for an option i love the sound of the truck its just hwy driving that drives me nuts

also does anyone know if taking the pipes over the axel then dumping it close to the end of the bed will make a difference??

Are you talking about interior drone? Then yes, it did pretty much do away with all the drone. Before all i could hear was the loud exhaust and drone, now i can hear my Radix spin and the hum of my tires over the exhaust. To be honest though the drone wasn't that bothersome, but i'm used to loud drone and a 2000 watt system in my DD. I mainly got the resonator to cut down on drone when towing or hauling a heavy load.

If you like the sound of your muffler just add some more tail pipe to it and dump it infront of the bumper. my truck was loud when i was running lt ory and then muffler. finally got my 4ft of mid pipe bent and added it on and it was WAY quieter. you can get some more piping for like 15-20 bucks.
