Default quick question

why is it better to use an iron block for an engine than to have an aluminum block?

I wasnt aware it was. Aluminum disapates heat better than Iron. It weighs less, etc. etc. THe LS2, LS1, LS6, LS7 are all aluminum there is also an aluminum 5.3. At the time they were introduced, all were in the top of their class.

Iron in general is a stonger metal than aluminum.
But i wouldnt say that it is better to use iron.

It really all depends on the engineering of the block, and your plans for the motor.

i would only go Iron for a high boost engine or an EXTREME N/A engine. Only advantage Iron blocks have (in the Gen III/IV world) is they can be rebuilt a couple times were as most of the aluminum blocks can only be bored .010 then need new sleeves. But what are your plans for the engine?

my question was pertaining to nitrous, i have heard that if you use it in an aluminum block that it'll get so hot that the block will melt
