Default quick question

i have a 4.8, took the intake off and im back to stock. still feels just as fast, btu ill be putting it back on after a few mods..

im thinking

head/cam
thorley tri-y headers
mail order tune(unless i can find a local person that can tune an ls1...they could tune my truck right?)

any suggestions? its a 4.8, 5spd.

i plan on all these at once.

its a daily driver, but i dont mind a rough/lopey idle. i dont know exactly what head/cam combo to get. depending on selection wut kind of HP gains can i expect and ET's?

What you really need to do is go over your power goals!! Set that first and then try to figure out what you want to do. The reason I say this is because you will end up spending more money in the long run if you dont. You need to know: what HP range you want to be in or what ET in 1/4 your going for. Helps to know if you want to go NA or if you would like to do some sort of FI.

If all you're looking for is a low 13 sec 1/4 ET then you can definatley do that NA. It doesn't take much out of a chevy Anyway you can easily accomplish that with a nice head/cam setup. I'd say a good port and polish job on the stock heads would give you nice flow without the loss of compression. Then step that cam up to make some nasty power! If you want to make sure that the engine is more reliable then I'd suggest upgrading the bottom end as well.

Well for a NA setup I'm not 100% sure on the cam size you'd want to go with. I've always studied on the turbo side of things However I would say you can make a repost and someone will definatley chime in. The other thing is...if you talk to cammotions or comp cams or crane cams, or any cam shop, and tell them what your power goals are and what head setup you have and flow numbers for the heads, the CR, motor overall CI, etc. and they will give you the better answer than anyone If I had to throw one out there, I'd say, 228/228 .600 .600 115
