Default Quick Help....Oil Pan removal

I'm doing a cam swap on a 4.8 (07') and having problems removing the oil pump. A search is pointing me to drop the oil pan. Is there a write up of any sort to remove/install the oil pan and/or oil pump.....Please help.

I need to have this done by 1am........don't ask.

Thank you gentleman.!

If it's a 2wd it's 10x easier. There should be a bunch of 10mm bolts. Just remove the front ones, and leave the back ones super loose. It's not fun, but it's much much easier than doing a 4wd with a transfer case in the way.

Are you upgrading oil pumps? Your going to have to start from the front and work your way to the back dropping out bolts until you can drop it down far enough and remove the pickup.

It is a 2wd.
Going from a two bolt timing chain to a three for the new cam. PLUS....I'm install the cam without removing the heads so I need to see timing marks on crank and cam sprocket.

Any other pointers.?

I have done this 50 times in my vette and had it down to a couple hrs top.

The cam and crank pulley marks are visible without removal of the pan unless it's a vvt motor I thought. Is it an 07 classic? If so the pan removal is fairly easy but may not be nessesary.

It's not a classic.

I did finally get the oil pump off. Getting ready to install new cam and have a couple new surprises.

1) What is that crazy thing holding the timing chain.? Do I need it with the new cam.?
2) There are some torq screws holding the stock cam in place...never seen one of them.
3) Brain FART......line up cam dot to dot correct.? (Cam dot down // Crank dot up) I'm confusing myself and now second guessing.

This is fun.!!!!!!
