Question Question for you guys with a whipple.....

Hey guys,
The guys over at the silverado ss forums said you guys here could prolly help me.... i am going to get a whipple for my 03 silverado SS (i know i know i should get radix bla bla but its not gonna happen) and am trying to figure out which setup to go with.... whipple electronics and extra injectors, or bigger injectors with pcm tune. I have heard that the second setup is the better one, but isn't the whipple system designed around those extra injectors in the intake to cool temps down? So if you were to not use them air temps would go up?

If the whipple stock setup was to be used.. and it needed to be tuned how would you do that? can you reprogram the whipple box or? or does it not need to be tuned?

I have no 4x4 dyno down here... so i guess i would have to tune the bigger injector setup and pcm tune myself? I would have to use a wideband o2 and keep sending the pcm back until its perfect? The truck is going to be basicly stock other than the blower so i can't see there being tooo much tuning but??

What do u guys think about this stuff??

Thanks all,
Nate

Welcome Nate!

IF you are going with the Whipple () then I would suggest a custom tune and the 8 injectors. The two AUX injectors have nothing to do with "cooling", this is Whipples way of getting the extra fuel in. Question, why did you choose the Whipple over the Radix?

aah i see, ok that takes care of that one question, lol

It's a total money thing, a grand less for the whipple is just what i want to spend... unless you know were i can get a radix for 3700 and thne i will get it in a heartbeat. So what do i do about tuning that custom tune and 8 injectors? I want to make sure i keep my reliability in the truck for aslong as i own it. Im kinda lost with the whole thing but i am sure it's not that hard.

You can get the injectors and a tune from a few different shops here on the board. Honestly after you spend the money on the tune, injectors and a few other small things you will be close to the Radix price. I know there are a few board sponsors here that are offering deals on the silver Radix, not $3700.00 deals but a little less than list. I work for Magnuson, if you would like to give me a call tomorrow I can give you a few numbers (for sponsors) to call and check pricing. I know the SS responds real well to the Radix, I personally did two SS's that were in SuperChevy magazine and they tested well for the HOT 100* weather that day. If you have anymore questions e-mail me or call me @ brian@magnusonproducts.com or call me @ 805-642-8833. No pressure (no pun intended) , just want to help you out if I can.

Not bad on the price then! I really can't comment on the reliablity of the whipple w/ custom tune. I have not driven one to say. Where are you loacted? I might be able to set you up with a test drive if you would like.

Do you have to disconnect the bypass valve when you do a custom tune on a whipple???
