Default Question on the TA girdle

I checked around on a few things about the TA girdle. I noticed they were listed as a 7.5", not an 8.5" 10-bolt. Is this still what I would need for my application? Thanks guys. I'm looking at that one that has thunder racing etched on it. Looks sweet to me!

You'll need the 8.5" cover to fit your truck.

I called the folks over at TA and told them what I had and they sent it to me. One thing that I did find out though, I would use an OEM gasket as opposed to the one that comes with the cover. The one that comes with the cover partially blocks the two holes in the housing that are used to supply gear oil to the bearings. My gasket blew out in those 2 spots (better the gasket than the bearings). I installed a factory gasket from the dealer which doesn't even go near those holes and haven't had a problem since.

One other issue, it came with standard bolts and our rears take metric...there's even a note in the package stating which ones are needed. You could pre-order them so you don't have the hassle of having to get them at the last second, or do what I did and hit a Lowe's and 2 Home Depot's to gather up enough bolts to get er done.

Do you have a GM part number for that gasket?

don't use a gasket. use some permatex grey. 1/4 inch or so bead all the way around, and go around both sides of the bolt holes too. never leak. just make sure your surfaces are CLEAN first.
