Default Question for Parish8

is this an Ideal shift pattern that you have set up here?

I mean would it be better for me to get mine lookin this way or is this just preference. I know you have the 4L80E but I can work on mine to get it this way, If its not benificial to me then I wont mess with it
Thanks,
Daniel

i really have no idea, it is much better than what i had, i think you just need to go out and drive and decide what parts of the shifting you dont like and then adjust them.

i did find out something odd, i thought i had the tables figured out but i guess not, right now when i am going above 40mph if i floor it i get a quick shift down(wich is good) but then a upshift back to 2nd, i think it is shifting to another table right at that point but i am not sure, my bigest gripe has always been if i floor it above 35mph it wont down shift, well i got it to down shift but it doesn't stay there so i have more work to do.

i will update here if i figure it out, probably just enter the same numbers into all the tables and see if that works.

On the front of the tab, where you go into the tables. Those shift points on the front are for WOT only. Are you changing them? BOTH criteria have to be met, the MPH in the table, MPH on the front, as well as the RPM for a shift to happen.

Parish .. how does your trans fluid look (level)?

i am figuring a few things, like what not to do.

i really like the way my truck runs with the updated part throttle shift points other than the funny down shift/upshift between 35-55mph. it feels awsume on the interstate, lean into it a little and it goes to 3rd and start pulling, lean just a little more and bam, there is 2nd. it is great.

so, to try and get rid of the odd shifting between 35-55 i changed all the tables but the cruise one, i made them all the same at the normal one i had modified, i also changed the numbers on the front to match my numbers at the very top of the table(100%throttle). this did 2 things for me, first it now downshifts and stays there at 40, 45, even 55mph into 1st. but the problem is it wont shift out of gear, i reved it right to 7k and no shift, i even went from a stop and no shift at wot. my wot shifts are at about 66mph so a down shift at 55 seems like it would be ok.

with a crapy 1st gear, 32" tall tires and a 6800rpm shift point, yeah, it will go prety fast in 1st, 2nd is over 110mph.

i just put the front numbers back to stock but am leaving all the tables with the modified numbers, going to go see how that works right now

ok, got a little more info, with the three tabs changed to that chart above but the front mph's left the same i still get the funny downshift/upshift anywhere between 40-50.

changing the front chart to the same numbers as the charts at 100%throttle caused it to not shift out of first at all at WOT. anyone know what exactly those mph's are on the front page? i always thought they were WOT mph shift points but they dont seem to be.

I think on the front they are WOT shifts. The tables have to be met as well before it will shift though.
