Default question about lq4's

were there aluminum lq4's? or just aluminum head lq4's after 2000? i've got a buddy with what he swears up & down is an '03 2500hd that he hit a telephone pole with...just needs a fan...truck still starts right up just a little curious about which motor is actually in there...did a little searching still a little unsure

LQ4s are all iron blocks, and in his case, aluminum heads.

99 & 00 lq4s were iron blocks with iron heads, 01+ is iron block with aluminium heads


your buddies truck has an lq4 with aluminium heads, 317s
