Mine is loud as well if ya ask me.Some guys say it's normal but i can hear it so loud even in the cab.Cruise at 70mph and you can hear it over the exhaust.
I'll let you guys be the judge hears a video clip i made of the noise. The incab part you gotta turn it up a bit cause the mic on the camera could only pick it up so good.

Also not trying to thread steal just want to see if mine is anything like yours only my noise never stops!!!!!!!

edit: regardless im pretty stoked about the new lifters and head work so maybe that will tide me over a little bit if i dont get this problem alleviated.
That is exactly the same problem I was having..
sounds like the other guys where having the same problem as well..
the o-ring fix is a lot cheaper than what I tried..
I would try that first..

TouchofEvil...
looked at the video
That really sounds like the same problem we are discussing here..

Well i have a leaking oil pan gasket at the moment so i gotta drop it eventually anyway. So i guess when i do, that would be the perfect time to replace the o ring.
I might wait to do it at the same time i swap my stall for the 3200 so it's just one big job and it's over with ya know.

honestly, not trying to sound like the guy with the worst problem here, but that sound was weak compared to mine.... im going to try and find my mic for the computer and take it for a spin and record the sound from my laptop....then ill post it up, if not this weekend, then monday or tuesday. my noise sounds similar to that, although its louder than that in the cab with music on on the highway... mine also has a more distinct tapping noise opposed to a slurry of noise

You can hear his tap over the damn cutout while idling. I could hear his tapping over 100 yards away. How is your oil pressure David? Is it a bit lower than usual but not noticeable? WOT oil pressure? I think you have a ******* DEAD lifter (much worse than a dead lifter ) While you are pulling your heads, I suggest pulling your cam and inspecting it whenever we do your head swap. Methinks your cam isnt istalled straight up either.

yea beau speaks the truth...i definitely plan on having my stock cam on hand in case my current one has been eaten alive. oil pressure is good but it doesnt change THAT much when rpms increase. idling its about 40 maybe a TINY bit lower and when im cruising on the highway its like 47 or something. hav ent gone WOT since having this problem because i have had tranny issues longer what do you mean my cam isnt installed straight up?

Did you ever get this problem fixed ? I believe my noise was as loud as yours and was doing some research before I pull the heads.

problem was never fixed but it happens less than usual now for some reason. Because I am replacing my engine I am not concerning myself with it as it seems not to be hurting anything. sorry I am of no help
