yea its pretty messed up. beau has heard it and so has charlie. quite awful... no i havent checked the oil o-ring pick up tube yet. whats the part number for that? i just got my new gaskets and LS7 lifters in the mail, now im waiting on my heads to be sent back
then its back to tuning and HOPEFULLY only sewing machine noise. oh God what i would give for only a sewing machine noise. while doing the head swap, ill check out that pick up tube, all i have to do is drop the pan and check it out right? make sure it isnt crimped and broken? part number?

Silver- Man you really ought to drop the pan and swap the o-ring it is SOOO easy to do on a 2wd and may get you by so you dont feel forced to do all that work right now. It will only take an hour of your time and a couple of bucks for the o-ring.

i think i will have to take care of that, what's the part number? i would be over-joyed if that was the answer to my problem and would immediately paypal everyone who has already spoken in this thread a dollar.

I dont know it off hand there are two different ones, best bet is just to go to the dealership and get one that they show for your truck. Be sure and lube the o-ring, pivk-up tube and oil pump inlet with oil so it all slides easily.

it doesnt start immediately, it gets its loudest when on the highway at a constant cruising rpm. if i am just driving around town it usuallly wont pop up and when it does, its not that loud. sometimes randomly, it quiets down to being tolerable and then slowly works its way back up to being very loud. this is why i think its hte lifter deflating and then slowly pumping themselves back up and deflating again with the rpm changes but this could also be attributed to belief bias where i think its something and will identify anything that seems to agree with what i think where i could be totally off base when all said and done
edit: regardless im pretty stoked about the new lifters and head work so maybe that will tide me over a little bit if i dont get this problem alleviated.

Mine's been tapping for so long now, if the noise goes away on it's own, I'll know that something has broken
It was slightly tappy in stock configuration, then after the cam swap, forget about it. Playing OverKill CD's very loudly seems to fix the problem, except for in between songs
