Question Putting in a 350

If all goes well, in the next month or so I'll be swapping out my 305 and putting in a 350. My only question is since everything is pretty much the same, except the motor, should it basically be pulling the 305 out and putting the 350 in? Because, if I'm correct, the wiring, the mounts, and the transmission are all the same that would've been used with a 350 anyway.

It's a 1986. No TBI.

That's what I thought mine would be like; just making sure.

Anybody have a suggestion for long tube headers?

Hooker super comps, you've got plenty of room. Those make great power and are inexpensive.

Hooker SuperComps are the ****. They have some with 1 7/8th" primary tubes, which will allow you room to grow as far as heads and cam goes. What cam / valvetrain are you running?? Comp 292/501 is a great hydraulic cam which will almost never need a valve adjustment if you pull the locks (on the rockers) down right when installing...and it works even better with 1.6 rockers, which will bring the lift around .534. I've ran this cam in a 3650lb G-body and it made great power and was super streetable. The cam, lifters and springs can be bought for around $200 new in kit form.

BTW, it sounds great too!

I'm hopefully going to check out the motor this week or next week, so right now I don't have any specs on the motor. I'll be happy enough just to put it in my truck, and drive.

The Hooker Super Comps, are they coated or not, or can you buy them either way?

Sounds good, but it's a TON easier to install a cam and springs while the engine is on the stand....if you plan to later. I run flowmasters on my hot rod (gen I 350) and they work and sound great. I just don't like flowmasters on a daily driver.
