Default purchased a STS kit and meth injection (help)

When it comes to turbo stuff I’m lost...

The kit included a 76gts turbo, intercooler, piping, and a meth injection kit. The kit is going on my 03 5.3 Tahoe. I'm looking to run it more on the conservative side in hopes that I don’t blow anything up. The Tahoe is completely stock.

All i know at this point is to have the kit installed and get it tuned.

What does meth injection do / do i need it?

Suggestions on other stuff I should buy?

Does the kit have a Inner cooler with it, if not the meth works as a innercooler, it sprays(mixes with the fuel under higher boost, to cool the IAT's to help reduce the chances of DETONATION. If it doesn't have one yes it needs it, would be wise to run it. If you have a innercooler with the kit, you saying your keeping things on the safe side, you don't need it..

If it already has a kit, why not just use it? Do you know what type of meth kit it is?

On a side note. Why don't we trade turbos (and some cash). that 5.3 would be much happier with a 67 than a 76....

Very true, specially if u are gonna keep it on the conservative side. Make some money back! Win win there.

YES get NGK TR6 plugs.. they are one step colder.
I would get Boost, Fuel Pressure, and a Wideband gauge.

Ian you should think about beefing up that trany, it won't hold up to the new found power.

With that size turbo on a stock 5.3L you will probably have some serious turbo lag. You probably should go to a smaller one like a GT70.

BTW, did I mention I have a brand new Garrett GT70 that I was going to sell to get the GTS76 or S80 for my 408.

The meth is not need if you are going to be running the intercooler and will be on the conservative(5-6 PSI) side. But it would not hurt since it lowers IAT's and has an octane rating of about 120. You can get away with more timing which usually means more HP.
