Default pt88 report

it sounds completely diferent, the turbo that is. quieter, lower pitch. the bov see's a lot more action, sounds angrier. it spools much slower, enough slower that i am prety sure i will need to spray it off the line.

i made a few short runs, best 60' i could get was 2.0's with the cut out closed and a high 1.8 with it open, this was not traction limited but rather just waiting for it to spool. i can only brake stall it to about 0-2psi and from there it spools kinda slow. from a roll when it downshifts into a higher rpm it spools very quickly but my stall is prety tight and i think there just isn't enough exhaust flow down low to get it spooled quickly.

my wg spring is 10psi but the lowest boost i can run is 15psi. i wonder if my wg is too small. it is only rated at 400hp. the first few times i turned up the boost setting nothing changed but eventualy it started going up. i could run up to 17psi with no knock but got knock at 18psi. this is about the same point i got knock with the other turbo. this is with the meth at the same setting. i had to add some fuel for the mixture to be correct.

i think my next step is to increse the meth flow. i have it cranked so i probably need another nozzle. then more boost. the other turbo was maxed so i didn't have this option. right now i would say the top end is a little better than i had before at the same boost setting but now i have the option to turn it up where i was maxed before. i am going to try and avoid race fuel and see what i can do with lots of meth.

That could turn out to be a much better track setup. Are you anticipating slower times on the street due to the increase in spool times? Are you considering a higher stall converter or just spray right off the line? Im curious to see how much the added meth helps. My primary nozzle is pretty big, but Im thinking of sticking a smaller nozzle in as well and really running alot of boost and timing with the new setup.

i think it will be a killer track set up and it is still fun on the street. after putting in the 408 i really was an instant tq monster and now it just took a step backwards on the hole shot. i think it will be nuts up top once i get more meth flowing and turn up the boost.

I don't mind hitting it with the nitrous so I will be doing that but the next time I have it apart I might get the stall turned up a notch. It only stalls to 2700 so it would still drive nice with a little higher stall. I did put about 100 miles on it last night with no problems at all.

i also got the most of the Omaha police force called on me. i was doing some testing on a quiet industrial road. there was a couple of "citizen patrol" cars that kept driving by as i was siting on the side of the road looking at my logs. i just ignored them and waited till they turned the corner before i did another test. i was only doing 0-60mph runs. eventually i got my tuning done and went on my way, i went to the local hang out where there was 100+ cars chilling out, it was a pretty hopping night. about 5 minutes after i got there a cop drove by my truck real slow and then stopped then another showed, then another and another. 4 cops surrounded my truck and they all got out and just looked at the crowd waiting for the owner to come over. so i did.

they told me they had multiple reports of a truck like mine tearing thru neighborhoods now that just can't be true since the only place i was at was the industrial area. i told them i didn't understand what was going on and that i was doing some drivability tuning over at that remote spot. they didn't seem to understand what i was talking about with the drivability tuning. they saw the nitrous bottle(closed), and the meth tank and searched my truck. guess what, they found my video camera and watched the tape. there was video of them busting up the hang outs and pulling people over and there was some video of me racing a bike over and over. they gave me a major guilt trip and took some info but eventually let me go. whew!!!

i am running out of spots to do tuning. i want to go out and modify the meth set up today and go make some full runs but i dont know if i want to chance it. seems the cops get called out instantly these days.

This should make for an intresting new setup. What was it that you said needs to be upgraded? wg? Whats that?

And for the cops... ya, They must have been bored. lol, that truck is such a sleeper, you could have been like, this is my work truck.. doesnt go over 100mph speed limiter, no need to check under the hood.. just the stock 5.3l.

How are you trying to boost it on the line? Are you standing on the brake and flooring it? That's what I would do and it worked to get me about 6-7psi on average I know your turbo is much larger than mine was but I figure my lack of heat from the turbo being so far back it might even things a tiny bit.

I bet the top end charge feels like a rocket!

i am standing on the brakes and then mashing the gas, it overpowers the brakes just as the boost starts to come on, as soon as it moves on it's own i let off the brakes. i am sure i can work on that a little and get more out of it but it might be easier and more consistant to just spray it with a 75shot from 3000-4000rpm.

Ahh, I forget that you have enough TQ that even at low boost levels it will overwhelm the brakes.. Have you thought about getting a 2-step from Harlan?

I know you'll have fantastic results with nitrous but for me I would like to see what it can do all turbo first. It sounds cooler when you run a kick *** time and it was with 1 power adder instead of 2
