Well, I think its too big. It would work fine though. Probably have a rough idle. Dont let me discourage you from doing it. Someone needs to throw a big cam in a 5.3 and see how it reacts.

What is the LSA? There is no way you can make that work with out some pretty good tunning. Got LS1Edit yet? Is it used? Thats basically a cross on the C1/C2 cam. You would also benfit greatly from some head work and NEED a 3000 plus stall converter or your pissin in the wind. Without a converter, you truck will have NOlow end grunt at all.

Side effects -
Crappy idle.
Stalling at sudden stops.
No torque.
SES lights.
Misfires.
No converter lockup because of the misfires.

Benefits -
Big power (upper rpm).
Heavy lope (if you want that).
Something no one else has done.

yep, from what i remember you already have a nitrous kit correct? if thats the case, get your tuning worked out and then spray like 125 off the line with a nice converter. might turn out good who knows worth a try

Like the others have said...these cams may be a good deal but they don't fit your application very well. You would just need to make some necessary complimentry mods to make them work well.

The 224 cam can be a good selection matched with a good converter but would almost be a waste without doing some headwork or bumping the compression. It would have to be on a faily tight LSA (112-113) to make up for the extended duration. Tuning will be a must for "good" drivability. The shop (AAP) has done a few 111-112 LSA cams in stock displacement 5.7's which have performed well and remained resonably drivable.

The LS6 cam will make more peak but at a reasonably higher rpm. Coupled with proper tuning this could be a good swap for minor increases. Don't expect huge gains...a solid 20-25 HP may be attainable with the right bolt-ons but without a converter the peak gains will be negated or at least substantially offset by the low end loss.
