Put together a budget (since it seems to be a concern) and I will see what I can throw at you...remember too that a stable valvetrain is just as important as the cam so expect to incorporate those costs as well.

I've been considering both the Comp XR259HR-12 which is a 206/212/515/522/112° And the Crane HR208/2941-2S-13 which is a 208/216/500/500/113°. I think they should both make more power without killing all the bottom end.

Get a custom grind - something like a 208 212 on a 113 LSA and lift in the .530 to .540 range. Then run 02 LS6 springs. A custom cam will run you about $450 plus the springs.

from what i found out from MTI one day they put a z06 cam in a almost stock 5.3 and gained close to 40 hp on the dyno and was told i would get somewhere around 45-50 on the dyno in a 4.8. that is just what they told me one day when i was up there getting a bottle filled and talkin to them.

why would a 4.8 get more than a 5.3...when the 5.3 reacts better to mods then the 4.8

Well a z06 cam is going to be bigger to a 4.8 than a 5.3. I wouldnt think 40hp though. Maybe in conjuction with some other things but not by it self. Hell anything has to help one of those 4.8 bombs. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />

The LS6 may not be the biggest cam out there, but it is cheap and very nitrous friendly.

well, maybe i'll just go with it...and later on get my extra heads worked. if its good enough for a Z06 then it's good enough for me.
