Right now I have my exhaust dumping right out of the muffler. No additional piping.

Should I leave it that way? Or add additional piping to carry it to the back. What would be the best configuration? Would I lose performance? Am I losing performance by having no piping? Especially on the highway?

More specs on your exhaust. Size tube, muffler choice, where the muffler is located in relation to the cats, headers, etc......


I would say that on a basically stock exhaust, if you just replaced the muffler and dumped it, there really shouldn't be any problem or loss in adding pipe to the rear. Would just make it quieter.

 

Everything on the truck except the CAI is stock. I have a flow master 40 series.

I wanna add piping to it to get rid of that annoying drone. Whenever at 2000RPM my freakin head wants to explode. If i can just skip that 1850-2100 range it would sound awesome.

I would personally just get rid of the flowmaster 40. They are known for their drone. I have a Quickflow muffler, which I absolutely love and there is no drone at all.

 

so increasing the pipe length won't get rid of the drone at all? Just make the exhaust quieter?

 

the highway drone will be there reguardless, adding the piping for out he back will help with your take off noise

 

if you want flowmaster buy a 3 chamber no drone at all but its a little to quiet for me
