Default Project truck? or save for something newer for a project truck?

I currently got a 1990 Chevrolet Cheyenne with a 6.2L diesel. Its in awsome condition for a 90 up hear in Canada, I cant decide wether or not this would make a good project truck or not. I would want to swap out the diesel for a chevy 350 or something(undecided). Or am I better off buying a newer Silverado (2000 or never) and make that my project truck with a ls1 and turbos? pretty general but what would be most succesful as a project truck

If the truck you have is paid for then you could spend your money on mods instead of payments on another truck. Check out this site and others like ls1truck.com for info on doing an lsx swap and im sure you will be more than happy with what you have. I am doing an lsx swap on my 90 GMC scsb which should be lots of fun when it is done.

ok thanks for the suggestion, theres 2 reason why I wasnt so sure about myaking my current truck my project truck. 1 Its a long box and I want a short box and 2 its only 2 wheel drive and I want 4 wheel drive, how important are these for a street truck?

I have seen a few long beds that look ok, but I still prefer a short bed personally. If you want a street truck, 2wd is best, but if you want it to launch well, 4wd will definitely keep you from spinning the tires off.

If you want a short bed 4wd, you could get an older model like what you have but in that configuration. Probably end up selling yours and come out close to even on the deal.
