Default ProCold Intakes

Have any of you guys bought or had a friend of yours buy one of these ProCold intakes – they rock. They totally remove the intake from the hottest part of the car – which is under the hood. I just wanted to see if you guys over here have tried these I am in two other forums in which a lot of people have tried them and dig them a bunch.

Here is the site www.procold.net

Isn't this what Kenne Bell does with the intake for their SC kit? They claim a big intake air temperature difference.
Seems to accomplish the same thing as the Volant kit with the scoop/duct in the bottom of the box - gets cooler air from outside the engine bay. ProCold does have the advantage of freeing up some engine compartment space.

I dont kno. that seems like a huge gain off of just an air intake. 29HP.. i saw the dyno test, but im not sure. where does the air intake arm and breather go to instead of the left bottom corner of the motor?
If anyone buys this product, please respond and tell us how it works, i'd love to get it if it really gives that much hp and tq

I wonder how loud these intakes will be and does it come with the tubing all the way to the throttle body.

do you have any pics of it installed on your truck? looks to me like it just hooks to the stock intake tube going from the pic they have on their site. is that correct? or is there a full tube from the filter to the throttlebody?

I first saw this intake on www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com website, a poster there that goes by 11H turned everyone on to it. There is a GIANT post about it (http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com...threadid=13601 ) , several Ave owners have gotten one. There are several installed pics in the post, it just takes a while to get through a 21 page post. To install it, you remove the stock air box and lower mounting plate. The filter attaches to the new mounting plate which is an all in one piece with the intake tube. The filter sits below the mounting plate and the maf connects to the top part of the intake tube, pretty basic really. One of the Ave owners had it installed at Pro Dyno, they did a before and after dyno for him, he gained like 28 hp from it over the stock intake, even he said he couldn't believe his own eyes. My only question is, is there a way to doctor a dyno to give good readings? I'm going to order one this week, I'll post what I think about it. I'm doing 0-60 runs with the stock intake now and I'll compare them the Pro Cold times when I get it.

it looks like it's probably a nice power improvement...i haven't seen any pics of it installed on a truck like our's on that thread yet but i'm still reading/looking. honestly i would NEVER pay that much for what you get for it. i am though thinking i might go to an exhaust shop and see about having something made there out of 4" mandral bends/pipe and a flat piece of alum for the bolt down and a cone filter. it would do the same thing, get rid of the stock tube, and look SWEET once sanded (welds) and painted or powdercoated. i'm gonna look into building one this week.

Agreed...that is a little much to pay for a $35 filter, $8 piece of sheet, and one bend. Maybe that sticker was $200? hahaha

Looks like what was found on any of the LT1 cars....very similar to how they worked....only thing I can see it being bad for is the offroader guys since it mounts the filter lower in the truck....but for street trucks, looks like a good idea. Just costs to damn much for what it is.
