Default ProCharger questions....

I am leaning towards a centrifugal supercharger after I do the heads and cam.....since I already have enough low-end to roast the tires at will and I can get off the line pretty good I think I can get away without the low-end produced by a Roots or Twin-Screw supercharger (Sorry BlownChevy...no RADIX sale here....)

Does anyone have and input positive or negative on the ATI ProCharger....this would be my ONLY choice in a centrifugal charger due to previous bad experiences with Powerdyne and Vortec

also....assuming 7-psi of boost, what kind of N20 shot can I run off the line to help with the 60' time ??.....I was thinking 50-75hp shoud be safe

Are you planning on getting the intercooler set-up as well? I would think you should be able to use a 75 shot with an intercooled ATI with the propper tuning.

The ATI D-1SC would be the best way to go with the mods that you'll be running. This will give you more flexability with the boost that you can run plus it won't have to "work as hard" to feed the motor. The kit comes standard with a 2 core intercooler and a 3 core upgrade is available for about $250. I would delete the FMU and go with a set of larger injectors along with a custom program. This would be the best way to tune your truck.

Yeah...it'll be intercooled

and...the FMU will go bye-bye REAL quick....larger injectors are definitely the way to go....

I need to find out about what is gonna be necessary to make this work with the LS1 intake swap too....the throttle body is gonna be 4" lower that the stock position

No Sweat man, too each his own! If you are ever in the area please stop by and check out the shop and the truck. I would love to see your truck also! Enough low end tourque? Is that possible?

I looked into the Procharger before buying a Radix, what scared me away from the Procharger was I kept reading about them breaking pistons. This problem is obviously caused by poor tuning causing a lean condition in what was most often caused the #7 cylinder to fail.I don't think there is anything wrong with the Procharger that professional tuning can't cure.I also think the Procharger has more hp potential than a Radix or Whipple, but I didn't know of anyone close enough to Memphis I trusted to do the tuning. If you go with the Procharger to make big hp,you need to do it right, spend the money for big injectors,an inline fuelpump and above all professional tuning. The initial price of the Procharger may be a bargain, but it might turn out to be truely expensive if it's not done correctly.I say go for it I'd love to see a 700hp truck.

Im happy with my procharger. Its loud, its fast, and it just keeps pulling and pulling.

I have the D1SC with an 8lb pulley but im making 12 psi with it on my LQ9 motor. Im happy with it and I think youd be happy with the end results, especially if you are planning on spraying out of the hole, but if you get a decent converter you wont be hurting on the holeshot anyways, especially with a 4x4.

Quoted from www.procharger.com :

"For Intercooled ProCharger EFI/TPI applications with compression ratios less than 9.5:1, boost levels of 14-17 psi can be safely run with full timing on pump gas, and will produce horsepower gains of 75-100% (depending upon the boost level and the motor specifications)"

REALLY ??.....if so that's VERY impressive !!!!

and is anyone running boost levels THIS high ???

I built motor would be able to take this but a stock motor would come apart real quick. One other thing to keep in mind is that combining power adders will result in greater chances of engine damage. If you want to get out of the hole harder it will be safer to go with a higher stall converter than spraying it. You might be able to get away with it if you show the bottle down before the boost gets to high. I've know people to run both for a little while but the motor ends up going eventually.
