Default Problems with racing in 4x4?

I have raced several of my 1 ton and 3/4 ton trucks in 4x4 before and have never had problems...Of course , non of them have made the power that this nitrous breathing crew cab has.. I was curious if there are potential problems and or concerns with the transfer case in this situation? SO far no problems but just curious..

BTW, what is the difference between the C3 all wheel drive transfer case and my 3/4 ton transfer case??

anybody know anything about this topic?

The all wheel drive transfer cases, like the C3/Sierra Denali has, are designed for full time street operation - they don't physically lock the front and rear dfferentials together the way a conventional transfer case (which is what's in the HD trucks) does.

The only problem with operating a conventional transfer case on pavement is that when you go to turn, and the front and rear tires want to move at slightly different speeds, they can't, so you get the "crabbing" movement as they fight the transfer case. That's why they say to only engage "real" four wheel drive (as opposed to all wheel drive, or auto four wheel drive, or something like that) unless you are on a slick surface that allows some tire slippage.

So as long as you are driving in a straight line you should be fine, assuming the added stress of a nitrous launch doesn't grenade the transfer case. Just don't try any road racing <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
