Default Problems installing UPD!

So I go ahead and buy my wife the smoked UPD intake for christmas. Real nice looking piece to! But one thing that got me was the promise of "just a screwdriver and 10 minutes of your time" to install. HA! 10 minutes my ***!! 45 minutes later and a few cuts it was finally done. Some of those fittings and were so tight it took everything I had with the help of my father in law to get them together. The TB was the worst. BUT the darn lower air box is now unattached from its factory mounting positions. Is the lower air box supposed to be unattached once the UPD goes in? Its almost like the piping that goes from the TB to the MAF fittings is to short. Is this normal? any input would be appreciated.

The UPD system was very easy to install for me it only took a few min.If your taking 45 min to install your doing somthing wrong.Install the rubber groment onto the tube, then lubricate the other side that goes onto the trottle body, then with a small amount of firmness push it onto the throttle body,do not tighten clamp yet, with the air box lid left loose; position and connect all parts, then secure the air box lid with the four screws, then check and make sure the tube is not touching the fan shroud you should have at least 1/2 inch of space are more, once you have verified this tighten down all clamps, plug up your mass air then your ready to roll.

I think this is the easiest applacation on the market if you install it properly, and best of all it (works).I hope this will help you with your applacation. Just my thoughts on the matter!

i had a really tough time fitting the pipe over the TB i even had a nice amount of vasaline. scratched the **** out of the chrome finish but ya cant really sit cuz of the fan shroud.

IMO i think the pipe need more of thos slits... the OEM has many and the UPD only has 4 i think

No, WidowMaker.....we didn't do anything wrong! This sucker is a bitch to install period and I refuse wrangling this thing on my truck and having to run around with a lose filter box. Period. I have an SLP lid on our 01 T/A and a claw on my 96 Corvette....I hae done tons of bolt on mods before and this one doesn't fit in the way it should AND could if it were manufactured better. You shouldn't be having to scratch the hell out of that thing or have to have two people getting it on for such a simple mod. In the end the original parts fit on well. Why not the UPD too?? End of story.
quote:
Originally posted by WidowMaker02:
