Default Pro-tec bed? Weight questions

Does anyone know how much lighter it is than the regular steel bed?

Also, what makes a 2500 series truck over 1000+lbs heavier than a similiarly equipped 1500 series truck. Is the frame made with thicker metal or something?

Heavier duty suspension is a big part of it. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Thanks fellas

I know the HD trans is about 70-80lbs heavier than the 4l60e. I'm sure it has heavier leafs. It also has the bigger rear. For some reason I think the frame is beefier also but, I don't know where I came up with that.

I think I'll just stick with the 1500 idea and swap the HD trans in rather than worry about shedding the extra weight off of a 2500 that alread has the trans.

Could 11's be possible with a N/A 4wd pickup?....

I think so.

It sure would be fun trying.

I think a 4000+ Extreme(for a possible small hit of the sauce) type converter would be nice. The extra weight of the truck and torque of the motor should make it feel quite a bit tighter than a 4000 stall on a car.

Hmmm....Nasty 422. That sounds like a good license plate. "NSTY 422" It will be 11:1 compression. The heads will be 6.0L aluminum heads with bigger valves. What cam do you think I should go with? I can deal with a slight raise of idle rpm and some lope but, it still has to pass a roller emissions test.

Can you imagine people's faces if a truck showed up to the track on 4 ET Streets.
