Sure, it can be made to work, but I hope you're looking for some major cammin' action. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> The T1 is nice in the f-bodies, but you're going to try it with 21 less cid. If your truck is relatively stock, I would highly recommend starting off with a nice torque converter, ASP crank pulley, intake, exhaust, etc. The cam isn't going to show a gain like you're wanting unless you have everything else setup for it. A torque converter is gonna be pretty mandatory in order to live with that cam. If not, you're gonna have some pretty bad surging, more than likely, down low. I'd suggest that you do all of the bolt-ons first before you jump into the engine. Then you'll see the best gain from the cam. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

F150, give MTI a call at 281-870-8787 and ask for Chris Witt. He has a few truck cams in stock right now that would be great for a 5.3L motor. He could help you pick one out.

ok here is my desired setup:

exhust:ASM LT headers, a custom Y-pipe with no cats, and dynomax ultraflo welded muffler.
4:56 gears
ported TB
asp pully
and custom tunning
(maybe port&polised heads way latter)

will the T1 work alright with that setup wihout a bigger converter

Justin,

Your going to also need springs with the T1. I would have the heads done at the same time at MTI or do as Tony said and call them and get a smaller truck cam.

what size tires are you running? That will make a big difference on the gear. 456`s aren`t that tall on a 265/285 x 70 tire.
