Im going to go ahead and end this right now. Since Im the younger and immature one. Im on here to talk about trucks not to fight with sheep ******* from oregon (im assuming thats why you live in the middle of nowhere) you know what they say about oregon its where the men are men and the sheep are scared. But no really this is just stupid when my setup is done Ill post the graphs and my time slips and then you can make your excuses or come up with some other stories. Lets call this quits for now, its getting old. Ill avoid your posts like the plague and you do the same unless you in your infinite wisdom and absolute father time maturity levels wish to keep this up.

the end said and done I will not post anymore its going nowhere and its not why Im on LS1TECH

Ill let you know denali my setup is around 10.4:1 its not really high but alot more than normal. Ive got a lower temp thermstat ordered and lowere temp plugs I pritty shore once I get the exhaust side uncorked (lt's, off road y and cutout) my pinging will go away I can add timing and this setup will shine but we'll see.

I think the exhaust will help a ton, Did you get rid of the cheap gas? What thermostat did you get? 160?

I got the 160 and ngk tr6 (i think) from texas speed. On a side note recently I saw a stock GM plug that cam out of an fbody on the other side of the plug it was labeled NGK. Ill take a pic and post about it.

The plugs that came out of my truck said AC Delco on the one side and NGK on the other. What were you using Tr55? If you go the route of pulling the heads again just see if you can get a thicker gasket, I would try that myself. I would go get a nice set of long tubes, you will love them. I saw a big difference in mine.

Im using the stockers still with 40k on them and alot of fowling. Im hoping for a 30 rw gain from the headers, ory and cutouts. I think its doable since the other side is allready done should have done them first but things fell into place the other way around. I need to do some leak down and pressure testing to ensure nothing was damaged. I think the cats are getting super ****** hot from the added compression and crappy stock manifolds I can smell a slight burning smell when I get out sometimes I think this is also the problem of why I had some pinging to much pressure/heat and no where to go. Ive also got hot start issues where it will go then not find an idle and die. Other than that the thing runs perfect when its cold I barely touch the starter and she fires right up sounds really good in the morning and setsoff car alarms I love it. If you do go with added compression it will make your exhaust noticably louder. you can feel the exhaust waves hit you when its loping at 750 rpms. Im getting better gas mileage now too.

wait are you fowling out the stock plugs? if so then some tr6's might do the same being a colder plug. i guess a try wont hurt. i ran then when i ran nitrous. everyonce in a while there would be one that would fowl out. i went to the tr6ix and didnt have that problem anymore.

Well....

I'm running adjustable rockers. During my first attempt at setting the preload correctly, the lifters were bleeding down and I ended up putting too much on them. Over .120". That held the valves open and the motor would flat-out not start.

Running between 7.350 and 7.400" pushrods wouldn't have any effect with what the valves are doing... the stock pushrods can adjust up to .120".

I believe the only time the valves might not be opening the full amount would be when you're running a much-too-short pushrod that will give you a LOT of valvetrain noise. (actual lash in the valvetrain).

I believe the reason why the 7.4's are quieter than the 7.35's is because they seat the pushrod a little further down in the lifter. I'm surprised with .050 taken off the heads, that the 7.35's are working well.... but VHP claims that approximately .060 to .100" preload is ideal for minimizing VT noise and providing best power/performance. --- a spec that the 7.4' might be yielding for you.

Im really interested in the outcome of this! Man I feel for you! I just went through a pretty bad period with motors! If your truck is stronger and more reliable after its all said and done it was worth it! So make sure both of those things happen. On another note Im running 11:2 compression with stock manifolds, stock heads, and aftermarket valvetrain.
