This would be going in an L96 to replace the LC9. The L96 in question currently has a BTR stage 4 (224/230 .480/.480 109+0).

Okay I would actually go ahead and bump up to the stage 1.5 or the stage 2. I was originally going to run the Summit stage 2 but ended up with the TSP Stage 2 low lift. Both of those would give even more gains than the stage 1.

OP,

Here's a good thread on 6.0 cam recommendations with an emphasis on low-end torque. The BTR torque cam and our stage 1 truck cams are all discussed. There are some others thrown in there as well. We would suggest reading through that thread and then come back to your thread here with what you're thinking. Like others have stated for what you're looking for you definitely don't want to leave that stage 4 cam in there.

I read that thread last night! I am leaning towards the 8719. Will I be good to go with GM blue beehive springs?

I'm also upgrading the TC and was looking at the Circle D 300mm which has a 2000 rpm stall speed. Would I be better off with the Summit 700345 with a 2600 rpm stall?

Yes GM blues will be good.

If you are looking at those converters you might as well look at the Trailblazer I6 converter if you have a 4 speed.

I couldn’t remember if some of the NNBS came out with 4 speeds. I think some of the heavy duty did which rules you out but wasn’t sure

The 1500 got it in 2009.

OP,

The 8719R1 is a great choice for what you're looking for out of this cam swap. As shakenfake said the blue LS6 springs will keep the valvetrain plenty happy. We have our own version of those as part number SUM-174002. These are the recommended spring for the 8719R1.

We wanted to make sure to mention the L96 doesn't have AFM but it does have VVT. Most aftermarket camshafts including ours are 3 bolt and won't work with VVT. We put together this VVT Delete Combo to help with the install of a non-VVT cam.

Regarding a torque converter for the 8719R1. It doesn't require one but a stall converter would help it get up on the torque band easier. Using this as a daily/work truck we'd stick closer to a 2,000 RPM stall. If you were using it as a weekend cruiser/hot rod truck a 2,600-2,800 stall would be a good target.

The original L96 deal fell through, so I ended up getting a junkyard pull L96 with 82,000 miles. Need to decide if I can be content with the stock cam or if I should splurge on the 8719 since I'll have the engine out.

Before it goes in, what items would be good to replace preventatively? Rear main seal etc? Maintenance schedule calls for a new air filter at 90k and spark plugs at 97.5k, probably makes sense to pull those forward.
