If you do the swap i will buy your 5.3 short block I am/will be looking for a rebuildable 5.3 block to make a forged 5.7 here pretty soon...

4l80e uses a spacer on the newer 6 L's. For a 60e you remove it.
Pre 01 had the cranshaft made with the longer snout so you can't just pull a spacer to and throw a 4l60e behind it.

The only real way to identify a lq4 vs. 9 is to look down the spark plug hole to see a piston. there is a dish in the lq4. the lq9 is a flat top.
