I've been runnuing the 5.3 hard at 4-5000 rpms around town the last few days to test the factory 944 NA radiator and fans with simply removing the T-stat from the 5.3
It has been over 95 degrees and sometimes 100 here and I finally got the Digital LED temp gauge to hit 190 where fan #1 kicked on. So the the 5.3 doesn't need an aftermarket radiator even

Also the initial rev seems a little slow. I have the MAF sensor under the panel right after the cone, then a long air intake tube to the Throttle body. Would the throttle response get quicker if I moved the maf right before the TB? I can easily do it now as I removed the hood latch and radiator support and put in some trick hood pins...

Hey Guys, What fuel pressure (PSI) does the stock 5.3 injectors/fuel rail run at?

Also I thought these truck PCM's put out a 4 cylinder tach signal, maybe just the LS1 PCM's as I have heard?

I'll try and get a vid up this coming weekend.
I put on my Billet VSS kit with the modified 944 cam as a reluctor wheel. The strange deceleration idle has gone away and the fan does not kick on at hiway speeds now.....
The Fidanza Flywheel gives this motor some crazy quick acceleration...
Smoked a WRX coming from Homie Depot with a bag of cement and some 2x4's in back LOL....**** on the LS1... I have driven a few LS cars and this 5.3 is POTENT in a car that weighs 500LB less than a vette no doubt...

Is the 5.3 Truck throttle body the same part# as the LS1 TB?
IF so I want to port it like is in the mod sections to get even better throttle response.
Also, what is the best "bang for the buck" power mod to do to this engine. I've been reading into the 4.8 pistons in the 5.3 block, but that will have to come later.

Have you had the car on a set of scales to see what it weighs after the swap?

Have you beefed up the transaxle in the rear?
