Default weight balance

You do not need any special transaxle, just use the 944 NA for the 4.8 and the 5.3 is holding nicely. The 944 Turbo transaxle is stronger and it is holding over 500HP on a few 944-V8 swaps......

Hears what's cool about the 5.3L iron-block truck motor in the 944. It takes off just like the LS1 powered 944 I test drove a year ago and.....the weight balance is even better for getting rid of the torque steer as these cars were so well balanced (almost 50/50) from the factory....Now I have a street menace that doesn't buck and launches beautifully.....

Measured 2x....
With the Iron Block installed.....

53.7 % FRONT 1600 lb
46.3 % REAR 1380 lb
----------------------------
Total 2980 lb

List is growing:

Mustang GT....******
Subaru WRX....smoked him with a bag of cement and 2 2x4's in the trunk lol
Nissan 350Z....All show and no go
C5 Vette....was on my tail but walked away from him on the hiway
Lexus IS250.....sleepy

I'm reading up on the TR220 cam for this 5.3 here and TB porting. You guys know some ****. I wonder how the cam would work with the 5 speed since I don't have a Torque converter? Also I am knocking down 30mpg's with this motor over the reported 25 mpg's from the LS1 swapped 944's...Any thoughts?

I have a thought...this is a bad *** swap!! Lol I have been looking for someone who has a 5.3 swapped into a different car, do you know how much power it's putting down? I think a tr220 is a good choice depending on what it's being used for.

Power = whatever a 5.3 with an LS1 intake, Fidanza FW and 5-speed puts out Enough to walk all over $50K cars hehe....Porsche Carrera can't hang either
I will do a 6.0 iron block 944 on my next build now that I've developed all the parts to be universal using the C5 Bellhousing.....
I have a spare basic install kit ATM if anyone's interested, I need some spare change for the paint job LOL....

You'll need a Moroso 20140 oil pan and headers.

I modded Hooker 2312 headers. The pasenger side fits perfect, The driver's side needs #1 primary to come up and over 3,5,7 then down to clear the steering shaft.

Post up your cam question in the internal engine section, you'll get more views and replies.

That's a great engine in a good looking car ( I always liked to style of the 944). I am a little confused about why you have torque steer in a rear wheel drive car.
