I don't have one yet, hopefully this weekend. I'm only looking at 02-06 with 5.3s.

Like someone else said, if they are the same generation blocks, then everything bolts up.

I just did this same swap with a .040 over 6.0....zero issues.

so you're gearing up for a fresh engine on a truck that doesn't exist? you know the odds are that the 5.3 in the truck is perfectly fine right?

So you took all of your 5.3 accessories and intake, fuel rail, vaccum lines, coil packs, etc and put them on a .040 over 6.0? As far as tha actually bolting the motor in place of the 5.3 you shouldn't have had any issues and it's just like a more powerful 5.3 is sitting there. All wiring, ECU, throttle cable/DBW connection, etc was absolutely flawless????!!!!!!!!

I know it sounds slightly ridiculous except for the fact I'm looking at trucks with over 150k and some last 300k and others last 100k. I've just had a lot of bad luck when doing my own major projects. I want to have everything researched for the worst case scenario or when I want to prep everything for a rebuild/swap project or when I just get tired of the slower less powerful original 5.3.

Oh trust me, I get it. My last swaps bolted right up and with some suggested mods everything worked out to remove and replace. It was all the wiring, fuel, ECU, sensors, some odds and ends that no one ever mentioned didn't work out. It sounds like this is a much more common swap/mod than my last two or for any major project for that fact.

You cant compare imports to these trucks

I asked age since you stated and only youngins mess with imports

Nothing complicated with these trucks
8mm
10mm
13mm
15mm

If you own these sizes you can basically do most work on them

As said before... if you use the same generation engine - EVERYTHING with swap over. Outward appearance between the 4.8/5.3/6.0 is exactly the same. I had a 2000 Silverado 5.3, I put a 2004 LQ4 in it. I reused my accessory drive, intake, exhaust manifolds, etc. This was my first time doing such a swap on this body style of truck. After the truck was totalled, I removed that engine. I now have a 2001 4.8 truck (251K miles and counting) and I guarantee that the same LQ4 will swap in without any issues.

I have 6 or 7 10mm sockets and can never seem to find one. no telling how much time I've lost in my life looking for that DAMN 10mm!
