performance diff 22's vs. 20's
#1
does anyone know how much performance is lost going from stock to 20's to 22's in say the quarter mile.... if all were run on same truck ,stock motor.... and the wheels were of the same cut or style ......so there wouldn't be an obvious wieght slaughter between sizes........just a resonable amount like 25lbs...
would a stock truck with stock wheels/tires smoke the same truck BUT with intake, exhaust, nelson tune, 160 stat, AND 22's?????? i'm curious because dodge is runnin 22's on that there viper thing

remember that "that there viper thing" also has 500 friggin horsepower....If you're trying to compare apples to apples then 20's and 22's will be slower than stock 16's because of increased rotational mass (unsprung weight), and increased friction due to a larger tire contact patch

I noticed like a .2 to .3 difference in the quarter mile time with my 22's vs my stock 16's. However, my 22's, Weld Evo slingblade 6's, are very light for 22's because they are forged and not cast. They weighed as much as my old cast 20's. But I noticed better traction and 60 foot times with my 22's. Maybe because I have Nitto Extreme 555's which grab better than the stock firestones maybe. Hope this helps. Just remember, if you care about performance and want big rims, get rims that are forged not cast.

so how much horsepower would it take to compensate? say stock i ran 15. then put on some 20s would i run about 14.7???? then 22s dropping to about 14.3???? if this is somewhat on target .7 is the difference between 22s and stock right??? if engine is stock 5.3 02 what mods will get .7 back????? without a radix or nos.......can intake, exhaust, long tubes, mild cam, and allens hot tune make it???
