Default PCM identification/06 LQ9 question

I've been all over, it seems, for the last 2 weeks trying to determine how to id PCM's. Not by what they look like, but what pcm goes with which vehicle.

For instance, my 98 SVT Contour has a code printed right on the PCM sticker that lets me know it's for a 98 and not a 99.

I am picking up my 06 LQ9 tomorrow and am supposed to get the pcm with it. I want to make sure I am getting the correct one so I can put in my Silvy without needing to get a custom tune. And it's also to save down time for the swap.

Also, is there anything I need to consider when swapping the PCM? Will it think it is still in the Caddy and try to control something that isn't there and freak out? I understand from my reading that it should be a direct swap into my truck without any problems.

You can't use that caddy PCM in your Silvy. It won't even plug in. The PCM has a 1 meg flash chip and will have 1 plug labeled green and one labeled blue. 06 use a drive buy wire throttle body and it will not support the cable throttle body on your truck. You will need to just have you current PCM reprogrammed for the LQ9 long block. Your current PCM is only a 512k flash chip and has one red plug and 1 blue plug.

Thanks. I guess the pcm swap stuff I read were for different trucks then.

Guess I need to find another 5.3 pcm to send out for a tune then.

I've only got a few days to do the swap at my dads shop and no internet access there. So I have to get everything right the first time.
