Paging Hitman X for convertor q's!
#11
Thanks for all the help hitmanX and you as well black blown 02. I have decided to spend my hard earned money on KDS billet servos and an aftermarket tranny cooler , before I drop in a high stall and start to tear up my tranny with sloppy shifts. I think it would be better for me to prep the tranny before dropping in a high stall conv. and kill the bands! I will have to save money all over again to buy the convertor but at least the tranny will be ready to handle it, I guess.

Black Blown 02 said it right. The billet servos' holding is far, far greater than the factory ones. They go in the side of the case on the passanger side.
The servos alone would be nice, but the shift kit corrects problems. The kit helps that stupid 2-3 overlap shift and the previously mentioned stuff. The TransGo kit comes with 3 washers that change the shift firmness on the 1-2 upshift. Depending on your stall I'd go with 3 or 2. You will have super positive upshifts in all 4 gears. Quick, tight, and precise...just how it needs to be.
I would just save up and do it all at once. It will save you on some labor. Converter comes out as does all the fluid. Get a filter change when the shift kit goes in too. I'd probably go ahead and install the cooler first, just to get that out of the way. Everything else I would do together.

The bog is timing being pulled. From what I have read, some people are effected by it more than others.
The more power you make, the more power will be reduced by the Tq Mgt. It seems to effect F-body guys more than anyone as they have potent motors in stock form.
My old '99 5.3 Z71 had that shift kit in there and the shifts were fine (not nearly as tight as I was expecting as I had the non-'Vette servo) and I didn't have any bog. I don't think it will effect you as your truck is fairly stock.
I still would have Tq Mgt removed with some programming at some point. I believe the Diablo Predator is the only handheld over the counter programer that does that. That is a nice piece that will take you about up to a heads/cam swap.
I hope that helps...

Yes it does help, thank you hitman! Also , the predator is the same as the HPP3 where you have to have your own for each truck and you cannot share with a friend when removing the torque management?

The Predator gets totally attached to the VIN, similar to LS1 edit. The HPP3 can be removed and resold.
The Predator does everything the HPP3 can, and then some. It is a very nice piece from what I have read. Timing tables, shift points, rev limiters, gear ratio's, etc.

If I install the shift kit I will then have that bog from torque management, correct? Now if I don't do the shift kit and I do the billet servos instead W/3200 stall convertor, will I still get the bog?
