the longtubes on my truck are ceramic coated, but the Hooker lt's on the dune buggy were originally painted. right after I bought them (there were a wee bit rusty) i got them sandblasted and I cleaned up any pits in the steel. then I painted. right now they've been through some hardcore abuse (mud/water like crazy) and they still look pretty good. I chipped a tiny piece of paint off the headers while removing them 2 days ago

Duplicolor hightemp primer with 1500* duplicolor didn't hold up...oh well...Atleast the flange is still orange

That's odd. Me and my friend did the same process as stated before on his 3rd Gen and we haven't had a problem yet with like 10K miles. You guys do know to bake the hi-temp on after application to let it cure right?

I would really like to know just how much cooler the jet hot coatings are under the hood temps?

I dont think anyone is really going to have a number for you. The real benifit of them is that your headers wont rust through or look like crap. I doubt you'd see any significant performance from the coating, especially with a grille that big (air flows through and just takes the heat off of them)

Some have claimed they will flow better with inside coated, but hard to imagine any measurable gains, seems the coasting is mostly talked about keeping under hood temps down and keeping them looking nice.I was just curious as to what the real temp differenence is and if they are even significant.
