Default pacesetter headers???

i have an 09 sierra with the 6.2 and im not wanting to drop a grand for headers, just want some better sound and little performance for the money... i can get longtube pacesetters and the 3" ORY pipe for $400 brand new! and as far as i can see thats a good deal.. who has the pacesetter setup and what kind of gains did u get, anything you could tell??

they arent big enough for your motor IMO. texas speed has some 1 7/8 headers that may fit your truck.

and all the headers on texas speed i see for trucks are 1 3/4, also ive seen where slp makes a set for camaros with 1 3/4 primarys and ive talked to a few of them and they say its a good gain, not sayin your wrong or anything... im just debating on what to do!!! i use to have my muffler dumped and lost load of tq well put it back out the back with my magnaflow muffler and took out resonator and just ran factory pipe like it was and got it all back! so im thinkn maybe if the samller primarys will keep my back pressure and the big open 3" y pipe will off set it self?? what u think?

you need atleast a 1 7/8" header. im not sure if it goes for the newer trucks too, but camaro headers slipped into my 01 silverado.

I too believe the 6.2's and larger motors generally respond better to a set of 1-7/8" primaries, while the 6.0's depending on the total package can go either a set 1-3/4" or 1-7/8" and for smaller engine packages it may be better to stay with 1-5/8" to 1-3/4" primaries. The RPM range of the combination, whether you’re looking for low end torque or high RPM power, or maybe somewhere between have as much to do with choice as anything (hell Doug Thorley Tri-Y’s still work great in some applications). All of this blanket statement stuff doesn't mean squat and is more of a guideline and is not a 100% written in stone. Header design (collectors and so on) have every bit as much to do with it as does basic size. While I don't recommend it, just for grins I measured the exhaust port openings on a set of CNC'd L92's I have lying around and the opening is just a hair over 1.66", so a set 1-5/8" tubes could probably be used with a little massaging, but would result in reversion.
