Default Pacesetter Header Fitment

I put the headers on my truck in October, since then my tranny has been doing some squirly things when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd.

I was wondering if since the lines to my trans temp cooler are real close to the pacesetter headers, if they could be heating up the tranny oil too much.

Anyone else came across this when installing the headers?

This is on a 99 with a 5.3L.

check the clearance of the lines on the passenger side where the collector goes down by the frame. i know some have had them actually rub the header collectors.

I have no clearance problems with the trans cooler lines..........I did have to beat the **** out of my driver side header to clear my drive line....but the cooler lines were not an issue.

I would say they are 1/2-1/4" away from the headers. I did try prying them out of the way, but the plastic mounts seemed to flex more then the lines.

Wrap the lines or header tube at that area in header wrap insulation? Just an idea...

This is one of the main reasons I did my conversion to hoses... those steel lines have got to be conducting a tone of heat.

My tranny temps run about 150-160 most of the time in the summer.
I don't think the lines would conduct enough heat in that small area to make any difference.

Look at the y pipe and ask yourself with it being that close to the pan, which would heat up the tranny fluid more? (pretty much the same situation as stock)

My tranny has not done anything funny since the header install.

Is the Dynatech system worth the extra money over pacesetter lt and a y pipe? Cuz 800 dollars could help out with other things.
