Default piston to valve

Anyone ever had any piston to valve clearance problems with milled heads, larger valves and a cam over .550 lift.
My heads have .050 off and 2.00/1.55 valves the cam is a 222/222 .566/.566
going on a 5.3 just wondering what everyone thinks and if I should purchase a flycutting tool for when the heads are off. I cant afford to ruin this motor. Im having someone else do the install and Im a little weary about it.
Whats minimum safe clearance?
are the 5.3 pistons dished?

I hate having other people work on my truck but I dont have a choice.

yes the 5.3 has a dished piston, the 4.8 is a flat top.

i don't know how much you had the heads milled, or what brand of gasket your going to use to put back togather with.

i think you will be ok.

How much are the 5.3 pistons dished?

Ok, so what I read in "How to build high performance ls1/ls6 v8s" is that all gen III engines have flat top pistons with no valve reliefs.

there arent valve reliefs on the 5.3 but instead a dished piston, the 4.8 have flat tops theres a good article around on the differences between the 4.8 and 5.3 it shows the top of the piston.
Or if you want just take a plug out and shine a small light in there look at the top of the piston and it will tell you

Do you have a link to that article? Everything I find says that they are flat top. Not dished.

I'd really like to know for certain because I want to add 1.8 rockers with my cam so I'm worried about p to v also.

Can I ask why you decked the head .050???????

If you wanted to add compression, then either do it in the pistons, or change the castings.
