Default Ordered Auburn High Performance today!

I wanted an Eaton, but everywhere with a decent price was out of stock.

I don't have the time to wait (leaving for training in about 3-4 weeks), so I just ordered the Auburn High Performance. Todd at National Drivetrain Atlanta said that nowadays, the Auburn HP and Eaton are pretty similar as far as performance(because Auburn has improved some things), and that he likes Auburn because they are better to deal with and their new DREX program.

I got it for $339....

Can't wait to get it in!

Did you tell the it was for a 99-up truck. The Auburn is different for 98-older and 99-newer. The Eaton is the same for both but uses a special bearing. They should be selling you a 542097. They are good diffs and have an exchange program now, which helps.

I didn't get a part number from him but made it clear that I have the 99 NBS truck. He talked about which bearings were the most common and what not. If I were to judge purely from this forum, the Auburn HP series sucks..... but talking to Todd and calling a couple other drivetrain specialists, many seem to think the Auburn - even the lesser "performance" series - is as good or better than the Eaton..... and hey, for the price of a rebuild kit on an Eaton, I can get a new Auburn.

I have the HP Auburn on my wife's ext cab. This thing took a 10 month break and became a single pegger for no apparent reason. Seems to be working fine now. I had it since summer of 02.

It broke, became a one legger, and now works well?
??

If it brakes, 100 bucks isn't too much for a new one. A few shops I talked to said that they are stronger than the Eaton.

Not sure exactly what happened. During that period of time I was able to power brake and both tires would spin. However, during a very hard take offs, only one would spin and it would not fishtail.
Now if I don't get traction both tires sprin and my truck fishtails.

Well.... when it was actually working, how did you rate the performance of it vs. the stock carrier?

That's what I have now... It is useless with this stall.

I'm hoping this diffy will do wonders!

EDIT:
What kind of break in times are there on this diffy? I don't mind waiting a little while, but I've heard stuff like 500 miles!!!
