Default Open elemnent worth it?

Hey guys I want to help the radix breathe a little better, what do you think?
Here are my choices:

-Pro cold intake (http://www.prodyno.com/index3.html) $289
-Get just a conical filter and leave it instead of the stock air box.
-Make a hole in the bottom of the stock airbox.
-Or leave the damn thing alone.

Also, is it strictly necessary to unplug the negative of the battery for the filter change or the computer will learn the changes without reseting it?, I'm asking this because it's a PITA to make this truck idle right whenever I reset the PCM since the cam install.

Thanks.

I like the way that ProColdAir thing looks .. but is it worth 300 bucks? I don't think so!

I'll have to stick with my Volant.

eitehr make your own or cut holes in the bottom. I've been told to get upd and then cut holes in the bottom. I would probably build my own after I get the electric fans.

The UPD wouldn't work for him .. besides I've heard way to many horror stories about it cracking.

I'd just hack the bottom off the OE air box. It's cheap and effective...the Volant Flyer has is a nice box!

I recall reading somewhere than a conical filter will actually compress under the boost, I dunno if I believe that or not but heck I guess anything's possible!

But I've seen lots of turbo cars with conical filters running insane levels of boost (17psi+) and never heard of a crushed filter...

I have seen numerous cars dynoing 1000+ rwhp with conical filters and they have no problems.
