noone as far as i know has flow numbers on a stock muffler....but yes i would assume that a flowmaster is better than stock just due to the size of the stock muffler. but hell it might not be....

i always thought that any aftermarket muffler should flow better than stock. you will lose the low end TQ because less back pressure, but gain high end because air is more freeflowing.

I put on a Magnaflow today on the HOE and it sounds great around town but anything past 70mph and it drones pretty bad.. I don`t think I can get used to it.. I think the wifde is gonna bitch too once she hears it on the highway ..lol

I don't think a Flow is going to be too much better than a stock muffler...it's chambered and that restricts flow. I have a Flow on my truck b/c it came with it, I will NEVER buy another one. They are just an old school deisgn. I really like the Dynomax Superturbo that I had on my 99 Z71. Just a nice sound at WOT and mellow at cruise. Near silent at freeway speeds.

Remember the harder you push on the throttle on the freeway to keep you box/truck moving it will increase sound. That's just how it is.

Also those big chrome megaphones like 3.5" tips on a 2" pipe ADD to drone/resonation big time. My truck had those nasty POSs on it when I got it...as soon as I got home: out with the creeper, can of WD40 (lubricant and coolant), and my 18" hacksaw and cut them off. Sound immediatly became better and quieter at cruise...

yeah the superturbo.........never thought about that. it seems like a fairly free-flowing muffler too. thanks for the idea

I saw a dyno sheet on pacific audio(I think) of a truck with stock exhaust and one with a Flowmaster muffler. While the Flowmaster did add power, it was a very minute amount. So if you want a good amount of power over stock, I would say go with a Magnaflow catback system. I have a dyno sheet of my truck with a Magnaflow catback if you would like to see it

I don't know, I have ridden in trucks with magnaflow, and flowmaster 50. Neither resonated much, neither made that much noise. And the performance felt the same!

Well, if it adds 1 or 2 HP, would you be able to feel it?
