thanks everyone. i really like the sound of magnaflow, but the one i have DRONES so bad it gives me a headache. i have the 5x8 version that is 18 inches long. its actually pretty quiet, but you can hear the sound vibrating and resonating like crazy between 1800-2000 rpms. ive had a 10 series flowmaster and it didnt do this even. it was just loud. IMO there is a difference between loud and resonance. i dont mind a little sound level, it sounds good, but man this drone kills me on the highway and around town(in 3rd).

ill have to give myself some time to decide how to fix it. thanks yall for clearing up the air on performance. if its better than stock its cool with me

just my .02, flows suck. if you like the sound then cool, what ever makes you happy but for as loud as they are i think they are one of the more restrictive mufflers.

not flowmasters but rather "slowmasters"

flowmasters suck ***, the sound is so generic, and so over done....i had true dual 2 chamber flows for a while and then went to headers with true duals and 1 chamber without cats and it was so damn loud it was killer loud, it sounded cool at idle with the 1 chambers but going down the road it was way to loud and droning and just annoying as hell. i like the dynomax bullets i have now they aren't to bad down the road and sound sweet with the cam at idle. i have been thinking of going to some of the small magnaflows just to see how i like the sound...the way my exhaust is built i can un-bolt the mufflers/dumps and i'll probably just have another set made so i can swap'em out.

whether they are played out or not is your opinion and in no way comes close to answering my question

ive had a flowmaster 10 series on my last truck and it didnt drone like this 18 inch magnaflow does. it was louder but it didnt drone

also- i said i would pick either a 50 series delta flow or 70 series. so overkill loud and droning are not how i would describe those

Parish8- you are the speed master so you gotta know something thanks

exhaust is ALL OPINION....the questions you are asking are all up to your opinion of what you want your vehicle to sound like. none of us can make that decision for you.

I had a true dual set-up with x-pipe, high flow cats, and 2 flowmaster 40 series with turndowns before the axle. I loved the way they sounded, but like you were saying with the magnaflows, there was a horrible drone between 1800-2000 rpms. I'm pretty sure that the problem wouldn't be as bad with the 50 or 70 series.

i am definately not the speed master, i have heard more than one fbody guy call them "slowmasters", i had them on one truck and hated them. i am kind of a wuss and actualy prefer something like a magna turbo style muffler. might do a search in the fbody section or ask there.

ive never had a problem with magna's.... good stuff, and sound better the more you drive em' and break em in. and if you rev the engine, they bark..which is cool.
