Default ok, now what should i do??(long)

ran a 14.05 last night, prety happy about that, figured i could squeeze into the 13's real easy,

i retorqued my knock sensors then went out and made a run, 14.09, some KR but not peged at 8deg. only 5psi and 100octane so i figure it isn't real but not sure.

added 5% fuel and ran a 14.3. same deal with KR as before

took fuel back out and raised shift points to 5600 and ran a 14.3, same KR as before.

put it back to where i started and ran a 14.3, KR actualy looked a little better than the first run but prety much the same, still floating around.

came home and thru the 8psi pully on and went around the block, crused up to 30mph so that it wouldn't shift down and then hit it, smoked the tires in 2nd and bounced off the rev limiter <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> , put it in 4wd and tried it again, this time atap went strait to 8deg of KR and stayed there, i guess i am not ready for 8psi but i thought i would try.

i think after that first run every thing warmed up and that is why i went to 14.3 so next time before i go for a baseline et i should make a couple fo warm up runs but i amnot expecting alot of et improvement from shift points or adding fuel.

what should i do next, i want more power, i am sure a tranny is in the future but might as well wait until it dies first. i could try 6psi, 8 doesn't work but i bet 6 would, can a tranny shave et? what about tranny controls in ls1edit or that corvete survo i have heard of, will either of these shave et? a litte more desensatizing of the knock sensor may help, most of my KR is kicking in at shift points and launch, otherwise it is decreasing most of the time.

so how can i get a few more tenths for now and what is it going to take to see 12's? i would be willing to try a 50shot if i could get down to mid 13's first.

Me personally, i wouldn't spray and boost @ the same time. What about gearing, or a cam? (i dont know your mods)

But, the tranny could actually rip you some ETs. Say you've got a 4L60E and you switched to a 4L80E...it takes more power to spin the 4L80E i believe, so depending on what you do and how much $$$ you've got, it could actually hurt you.

A shift improvement kit could help. The servo's 'may' help again, i dont think it's a clear definate answer as to whether it will or it wont. Being it all depends on the mods you've got. Gearing could help, a shift improvement could help...hell, the temperature could make a difference too. But i think you're on the right track, try to focus on tenths, then worry about dropping those big ole nasty double dig's up front <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

i have heard a beefed up 4l60e can take alot power and shave some ET i would like to know what 2k is going to get me other than a tranny that will hold up, it would be alot easier to drop the cash if i knew it was going to get me a tenth or 2.

just looked here http://www.converter.cc/ the pro yank for $2295 say it will take 700ft/lbs and shave at least 1/10. i would think i am near 600ft/lbs

just found this http://www.levelten.com/store/gm/ite...3_7000_pts.htm it is a rebuild kit for the 4L60, only $400 or so, anyone know how hard it is to put those parts in?

Just for information's sake, here's kind of an interesting little bit on the 4L60E:

http://www.drwtransmission.com/4L60E.htm

I really hope somebody can prove this article wrong.

I stumbled across this looking for ways to beef up my trans. I really don't know what to think about it - there are other transmission places (such as TCI) that don't have anything quite this negative to say. Anyway, I just thought I would throw that out there as food for thought!

been doing some research on trannys, looks like 650-700ft-lbs is it for the 4L60e right now, i dont want to spend 2k on something that may not be able to handle a 50shot on top of what i have. hmm, looks like i need to take it easy on the stock one untill they make parts for the 4l60e or till i can afford the 4l80e.
