Any idea as to why so many seem to use more oil after cam swaps? Is it due to harder driving habits, or does it have something to do with valvetrain geometry? (maybe oil slipping by the valve seals/guides?) I've been lucky (knock on wood), that my truck doesn't seem to burn any oil, just what I pick up in the catch can.

Well after 6 years my truck uses 2 quarts about every 4k miles. Only has 130k on it now.

i been wondering this as well bc that is exactly what happened to me. i am almost positive it is due to a more aggressive motor setup and much harder driving. i was starting to consume 1-2 qts every 5000 mile oil change but i drive hard. i deployed and it took a long time for my wife to build up miles for another oil change so i just had her change it after 6 mos (she was not dd the truck) Later i had someone check the level and they said it had not consumed a drop. So i am pretty sure its in my driving habits lol

Mine consumes about 2qts per 5000 miles. I attribute this to losses through the PCV, because all my valve seals are new and nothing leaks. Plus, when I accelerate WOT, stop, then take off the PCV it's always dripping oil.
