Exclamation Oil Pump O-ring Problem! HELP!!

Guys, I've always read that the truck engines come with the red O-ring for the oil pump pick up tube. I was pulling the oil pump off of my 6L (2003 out of Escalade) earlier to replace with a new one before I put the engine in the truck. To my suprise, the oring on the pickup tube wasn't a red one. It is this green (blue?) oring pictured above. Should I install the new pump with the red o-ring or should I hunt down one like I pulled off of it? If i recall correctly, its the actual pick-up tube that requires the larger oil ring; however, the pumps will fit all o-rings, correct? 12586665 is the part number for the pump that I have to replace this one. Any help is VERY much appreciated! Thanks!

Show us a picture of the pickup tube. If all the truck pickup tubes are the same (and I don't want to assume) then run the red one. I can assure you the 04+ truck motors use the red one. I don't know what the o-ring seat looks like on an '03-older pickup tube.

The red o-ring looks to have a smaller inside diameter, besides being thicker. Looks wrong to me, but I'm not positive. Let's see that pickup tube.

And I'm assuming you replaced an oil pump? Which O-ring did you use?

Red o-ring for the indented tube (like you have) black o-rings are for the straight tubes (like an older LS1)

I would take a vernier and measure O.D. of the pickup tube(below the step next to the lip where it resides). The I.D of your "O" ring has to match this value(or slightly smaller). The thickness of the different "O" rings appears to be the same.
