Default Oil pressure ?s

hey guys... i got a 2002 chevy 4x4 5.3l with 40,000 miles on it.
my oil pressure has always been around 60lbs. lately in noticed it going as fars as 75 when im mashing on the thottle and it now says around 62 lbs when i cruising. i didnt notice it untill lately after i had my oil changed. so i thought maybe they gave my the wrong oil. also the weather dropped to around 50 degrees high. any suggestions about this,, and is this a serious problem?

its not a serious problem i dont think. its VERY normal for the pressure to be higher just after an oil change with fresh fluid in there

The cooler weather will also raise that pressure a little bit. Once the engnie thoroughly warms up, it will probably drop a little more.

exactly, with the weather the way it has been here lately it has caused mine to be up a little too. mine usually stays between 65-70 but i use a pretty thick oil (15/50) but i think i'm gonna change to 5/30 this week for the winter and go back when it warms back up.

I get 80psi at full throttle, and 60ish around cruise. 12,000 miles here

slow .. I got a little valve chatter with the 5-30 on my old truck. Haven't run this one hard with 5-30 in it, so I don't know about it. I use 10-30 though.

hmmm, thanks for that info....looks like i'll be going with 10/30 when i swap. the 15/50 is really thick, BUT it doesn't burn oil with that thick oil, and honestly that oil always looks better after 4500 miles when i change it than regular 10/30 mobile 1 does. i always use mobile 1 oil with fram long oil filters and a little lucas oil addative.
