oil pressure

Default oil pressure

ok 2000 4.8 when i start the truck 0 oil pressure and lifters srart taping if i give it gas the oil pressure goes to 50 and the tapping stops can anyone help

stock motor? There a reason you're using something that thick? GM recommends 5-30 year round. That stuff is like glue trying to work its way up to the top... hence the ticking, oil isn't getting to the lifters.

Are you running the proper oil filter with an anti-drain back valve?

I agree, that oil is thicker than you need.

20w50?! This is a modern, high-tech engine in your truck, not an AMF era Harley. Put 5W-30 in there, your gas mileage will improve, too.
