Default Oil Cooler ??

I had a 99 Tahoe with the 5.7 and it had the Engine oil cooler. What happened with the Gen III engines? I know they do not run cooler. Is there an Oil cooler setup on the 6.0 or 8.1s?

My 6.0 has an Engine oil cooler.

I can't remember if the 4.8/5.3 trucks get an oil cooler included in the optional Trailering package or not. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> It should be...

I have the Z71 with HD trailering and there is only a tranny cooler right behind the bowtie in the grill. Where is the oil cooler mounted? Does it originate from an oil filter adapter and work its way forward?

Thanks

That is the power steering fluid cooler.

Heavy4x4, yes the oil cooler lines come out of an aluminum rectangle-shaped adapter that is attached to the block a couple of inches above where the oil filter screws on to. From the block the lines run to the lower part of the radiator on the driver-side.

If you have a chance check out the cooler configuration of a D-max truck...they have EVERY cooler from factory and have the HEAVY DUTY stuff too. The nice thing is that they all mount in factory holes. The D-max Allison tranny cooler is much nicer than the 4.8/5.3/6.0 tow package cooler.
