You should be fine, i've done that before along time ago.. I left my truck running only to find it killed with steam coming from under the hood with the temp gauge pegged out.
When I first noticed i thought it was on fire until I saw the "smoke" dissipating into the air then i realized it was steam... I had the fire extinguisher ready!
Thats right, it got so hot it died on its on... I thought for sure i was F&*^%D but I let it cool and fired her back up.. It ran some 11 second passes after the fact so im sure it didnt harm a thing.
Scary feeling though!

When mine has gotten hot, I've always tried to fine the nearest long stretch of road, run it up to speed, and let it idle/coast.... I know you couldn't exactly do that.... But killing it with it that hot let's it just sit there and bake... Not good, but I agree with everyone else, I think you'll be ok.
I'm just paranoid because I've warped heads and intake manifolds like that.
