i was wondering what i should i look for as far as problems during setup and running nitrous on a 4.8.....the kit says it comes with software for exra fuel delivery...or something i was also wonderin the best place to inject the nitrous at (before the MAF or right in front of the TB) hmmm well also i was looking to shoot like 70-80....thanx

you need to talk to parish8. is it a wet shot or dry. wet you need to shoot it in after the maf. dry you need to shoot it in before the maf. not sure about the software but i do know that it would have to be a programmer if it is going to change anything.100 and below shot i think you dont need to change anything. hopefully parish will chime in. he is the man when it comes to nitrous and 4.8's.

I have a question on this too. If it is a dry shot, why does it matter where it is installed, before/after MAF. A MAF is a hotwire sensor and if you introduce extremely cold nos, wouldn't it kill the MAF wire? Also I have installed a couple of dry kits in my life and they were always after the MAF, same as the wet kits location. I would think that the dry kit would just increase the fuel psi to inject more fuel. Correct my if I am wrong, just don't see the point, besides enriching because of the cold air the MAF sees. Does it have that much of an effect. The dry kits I installed had fuel psi safety kits on them and if the fuel psi dropped below a safe amount preset by nos or nx it would cut the power to the nitrous solenoids.

i dont know much about dy kits. i think the NOS one sprays after the maf and just up's the fuel presure to get the extra fuel in. from what everyone says you can spray before the maf and just let the computer do the rest but i wouldn't try that unless you have atap and edit so you can pick the amount of fuel you want to add.
i really like the nx wet kit but have never tried the other kits so not exactly a wide experience base.

on a DRY shot the computer has to supply the fuel.the only way it can supply fuel is by the mass air sensor.so you have to install it before the mass air sensor so it can pick it up and add the fuel so it doesnt go lean. a wet shot can be installed anywhere in the intake so it goes into the engine. a WET shot supplies fuel and nos so it doesnt have to be before the mass air.

Ok, well not arguing but the nos ones I installed were after the MAF and worked perfectly. Maybe different designs or something. Does the NX kit use a fuel psi safety cutoff switch? Don't think I have done a NX dry kit, wet yes.

OK. There are two ways of doing a dry shot. The first (and most common) is the NOS 5176, in which nitrous is feed into the top of the fuel pressure regulator in order to bring the fuel pressure up for the fuel compensation. The nitrous uses a regulator also to limit the amount of nitrous going to the regulator. Being that nitrous is about 10 times the pressure of the fuel. Feeding all the nitrous pressure would most defiantly break something. Also with the 5176 you CAN NOT spray thorugh the MAF.
The second is the NOS 5177. Its MUCH more simple. It just spray the nitrous through the MAF and the PCM will do the rest.
I have played with both in volume and the 5177 is very EZ to use.
Feel free to PM me if you want more info.
