Finally got a chance to take the new combo to the local 1/8th mile track. It went a best of 7.944 at 86.83 WOOHOO!!!! I spent $3000+ on a built motor to run a ET .01 slower than it used to. The MPH was up 1 though and it is spinning worse than it used to so there is some 7.8's in there but not what I was expecting. I might get to go back to the track tomorrow so if I do I am going to play with shift points, etc. I think it is almost time for that "blue boost" You know-the old "if it don't run, spray it" thing.

That's pretty quick, how much are you planning to spray that beast? If you could do it in stages with about a 35-50hp shot to cool the intake charge,as soon as you hook up and a 100hp shot in third gear to help with the second 1/8th you could make the beast live and get you well into the 11s.I think a secondary fuel system on a wet nitrous system would be the safe way to go.

bummer, didn't think it would be much faster with you dyno numbers, with your set up you should see lower boost presure than i did with my stock motor but your not so there must be a restriction somewhere. anyone got any ideas?
he has heads and cam over what i had and is seeing the same boost as i did with the same pullys, his boost presure should be lower i would think and then he could pully back up and then see an improvement in power. hmmmm.
did you do anything to your rods when you built it?

What does your custom catback consist of? Maybe it's the restriction.
If you have the same pulley on as before than your power should be very close since airflow into the engine is dictated mainly by the pulley.

Yeah, it should flow better. Maybe the exhaust is just really restrictive though and not allowing the motor to live up to it's potential.
parish8 - What happened to your boost when you changed your exhaust with the whipple?

i bolted on alot of parts with no real improvemnt back then, i was fighting false KR and didn't know it. once i got that figure out i saw all of my improvemnts for the mods at one time. seems like i droped 2-3psi when i droped in the 6.0 but i can't remember what it droped with exhasut.
i have read alot of posts on the worthyness of heads and cam on a blown motor and everyone says the same thing. you will see a lower intake presure, cooler intake temps and almost the same HP level, that is untill you pully back up, then you should see some nice gains. the catch was if your blower is maxed out then heads and cam wont help much if any. that whipple isn't maxed yet so he should be able to take advantge of the heads and cam.

I'm with you guys on the fact that the boost should have been lower after installing a free-er flowing motor. I already called in sick for work tomorrow so I am going to test n tune and I am going to uncork it and see if that helps. I uncorked it last year when it was a 5.3 running like 8.6 1/8th mile and it did not help whatsoever but I understand that I am making a lot more power now and the exhaust may be the prob. I'll post the results tomorrow night.

OK, I tried a combination of different shift points from 6000 up to 6600 corked/uncorked and determined that without traction any further testing is useless. My 60 fts are varying too much to tell what is what. My best run was 7.77 at 87.17 which is my best ever so I am happy with that and it had a 1.67 short time on that pass. The rest of the time the 60ft was between 1.72 and 1.78. I made 9 runs total and I think the worst was a 7.95 I think the exhaust is choking it a little-every pass with it uncorked the MPH was up at least 1/2mph. Going to get some 1/4 mile times this week if it don't rain.

did the intake presure change? you may not get all that much more power when you find the problem but your intake presure should drop and then you can pully up and get your power.
