Default No low end power....?

Hello yall..

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra with a 4.8L automatic! I have changed my plugs and wires, I put a K&N filter, changed my gas filter, I took my EGR off to see if the pintle was operating correctly, and it is, even put some "SEAFOAM" There are no codes set...and my SES light has never come on....and I still cant spin the tires. when it gets hot i can hear the passenger side catalytic pop....are my cats clogged? should i hollow them out? Any information is greatly appreciated....just want to have my truck running well again!

Gut your cats. It can't hurt. 4.8's dont have much low end anyway, but it should help.

Thanks for ur 2 cents!! 4.8's have enough to spin the tires from a dead stop....i just cant do that anymore, so i am going to gut them, and i hope thats the case!

Thanks

forget the 2/4 drop and spend the money on a torque converter.

Are you saying you lost power or that you have never had power?

My 5.3 lost some lowend when I put on the K&N and the Magnaflow. I had to get a retune from Westers to get it back. These motors don't have a lot of lowend power to begin with.

Just spray a 500 shot to it and it will for sure break the tires loose, as well as a few other things. J/k my cuz used to have 99 with the 4.8 and wouldnt spin. Didnt have alot of lowend power. So your not alone. I would also agree with the converter. You will spend just as much on the drop as you will a stall. Then you should have no problem spinning the tires. Unless your truck will be more of a show type truck than a haul *** truck.
